FAQ'S

Everything you need to know about your treatment

WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP PERMANENT AND IS IT SAFE?

Semi permanent makeup is also known as micropigmentation.  This involves tattooing pigment in to the dermal layer of the skin (not as deep as traditional tattooing).  The pigments used are mineral based (again very different to the inks used in traditional tattooing) and will fade over a period of 1 - 5 years depending on the individual and exposure to the sun for example.  Louise only uses the highest quality pigments that are FDA approved and safe for use.  You will have a patch test at least 24 hours before your treatment.

DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP HURT?

Every effort is made to ensure you are made comfortable throughout your procedure.  An anesthetic gel is used before your treatment to prevent any discomfort.

WHO CAN'T HAVE PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Unfortunately, not everyone can have semi permanent makeup.
You have to be over 18 to have a treatment and you may be asked for some form of identification.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you will not be able to have treatment.
If you have ever had a cold sore in the eye you will not be able to have an eye liner treatment.
During your free consultation Louise will take you through a medical questionnaire to determine your suitability for treatment.

PRE TREATMENT ADVICE

It is always good to be prepared and listed below are some tips to ensure the best for your treatment.

If you are having a treatment for your brows or lips, ensure waxing, tweezing, threading to remove hair has been performed at least 48 hours before your treatment.  Not only will you see your best result straight away but you will not be able to perform hair removal for around 1 week post treatment.

Avoid asprin, ibuprofen for 48 hour prior to treatment and alcohol for 24 hours as this can make you bleed and the pigment will not take.

Treatments leading up to and during your menstrual cycle (women) can make you more sensitive to the treatment.

Botox and fillers should not be performed at least 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks post treatment.  My advice for botox and fillers is if you are considering either of these treatments to have your semi permanent makeup done first.  This is due to botox having the ability to raise eyebrows and fillers being able to change lips to a different shape.  Both treatments do not last and your natural brow and fullness/shape of lip will return so it is best to perform SPMU in your natural state.

Take time to really think about the look you are hoping for.  Take screenshots on your phone to bring in with you to show your therapist.

Stay out of the sun and do not use sunbeds 2 weeks prior to treatment.  Initially you will have to stay out of the sun and not use sunbeds after treatment.
